Beeswax is produced by honey bees of the genus Apis. It is one of the oldest waxes in the world and is now used in many industries including cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, food supplements and general industry.
 
Beeswax can be used in the full range of cosmetic products, such as W/O and O/W formulations, sticks, ointments, make-up and hair products. The advantages of beeswax are its high binding power, pronounced plasticity and excellent emulsifiability. Furthermore, beeswax has a relatively low melting point and a high occlusive character.
 
In stick formulations, beeswax improves structure, oil retention, stick strength, adhesion, flow and demoulding.
 
In emulsions, beeswax acts as a consistency regulator and (co-)emulsifier and also helps to improve skin feel. In emulsions, it also improves softness, barrier function and appearance.
 
The compatibility of beeswax with other waxes is excellent.
 
Beeswax Yellow from our partner Koster Keunen is available in conventional and pharmaceutical grade and the production facility is GMP certified. Beeswax Yellow has a yellowish to brownish colour and a characteristic odour.
