With Colorhold, Assessa has developed a unique "double-blocking system" that operates on two different levels to maintain the coloration of the hair. Colorhold is based on carrageenan and hydrolyzed rice proteins.
 
At the first level, the hair cortex, amino acids and peptides of the Colorhold penetrate the hair fiber during and after coloring and trap the dyes in the cortex.
 
The second level is the cuticle layer, where the bio-molecules of Colorhold form a nano-network around the hair strand. This strengthens the structure of the cuticle, closes the scaling and seals the dyes within the fiber.
 
Through this special "double-blocking system", Colorhold ensures long-lasting coloration of the hair. 
 
This effect was verified on the basis of hair strands. By adding 2% Colorhold to the colorant, it was shown that after 9 washing cycles, the coloration of the hair was significantly better maintained than in comparison with the placebo.
 
Colorhold can also be used in products after the hair coloring process. For example, the use in a shampoo and conditioner with 2% Colorhold was investigated. A significant improvement was achieved after 7 wash cycles as well.
 
Finally, comparative tests were carried out with 3 different products carrying a similar claim. Colorhold showed the best results after several washing cycles. 
 
Colorhold is thus an excellent raw material for maintaining hair coloration for applications during or after the hair coloring process.
