Pequi is mainly found in the Brazilian province of Cerrado and is also called the gold of Cerrado because of its importance for the region and its colour. 
 
In addition to its cosmetic use, it is also used regionally in the kitchen and for cooking.
 
The oil is characterised by a high content of oleic and palmitic acid, and because of this combination, Beraca's pequi oil was specifically tested for its effectiveness in hair care.
